Academy Cube takes next step: SAP transfers platform operations to PDAgroup

Effective April 1, SAP has handed over operations of the EU-wide Academy Cube Initiative to PDAgroup GmbH, a long-standing partner company. The official hand-off will take place today at SAP headquarters in Walldorf. Under the patronage of Dr. Bernd Welz, Executive Vice President at SAP AG and responsible for Solution and Knowledge Packaging, however, SAP will remain one of the platform’s most important industry partners, as well as a customer.

PDAgroup GmbH, headquartered in Innsbruck, Austria, was founded in by Prof. Dietmar Kilian and Prof. Peter Mirski in 2007 as a spin-off of Management Center Innsbruck (MCI). The two founders also work at the university as professor and director of the “Management, Communication & IT” degree program, respectively.

For PDAgroup, taking over Academy Cube is logical evolution of their vision. More than ten years ago, the creation of a degree program at the interface between management, communications, and IT was a first step aimed at fighting against the skills shortage with a hands-on university program.

Academy Cube, a job and further education platform, was introduced one year ago at CeBIT by Neelie Kroes, European Commissioner for the Digital Agenda, and Jim Snabe, Co-CEO of SAP AG. In the interim, it has grown to become one of the most successful platforms for targeted recruiting, job search, and further education in the European Union. Its USP is the connection between qualification measures and job search: a matching algorithm proposes courses based on a job-seeker’s self-assessment to teach the specific qualifications required by a job profile. Through this approach, Academy Cube offers practical course content with proven relevance for companies.

The handover to a neutral operator is intended to ensure the continued evolution of the platform. Participating companies include Festo, SAP, Microsoft, and Accenture, which are currently offering more than 1,000 jobs to more than 8,600 qualified talents. In addition, the companies themselves – along with university and further education partners such as the University of Duisburg-Essen – offer numerous e-learning and course modules for further education and training.
